Doing some preparation of our DR environment and wondering, if we intend to only do restores in the DR environment, is SSD still a requirement?

My thoughts were the performance is required to do signature lookups (for writes), but for restores this would not be required.

Thanks!

You are correct you do not need the DDB for restores.

However as part of your disaster recovery plan you should plan in a backup strategy as dependant on the disaster you do not know how long you will be using the DR system and one recovered. It will become new production protected data which you will need to protect it.
