Hi peeps..

Anyone out there with experience in using IBM ESS 5000 as a backup target for CVLT?
We're about to set this up... Multiple MA grids will be connecting to the IBM ESS using SMB on a 100Gb network..

If anyone has some do's and don'ts or best practices feel free to chip in :-)
Would be very much appreciated..

Thank you..

Best regards
Kim

Hey @RubeckDK , I converted this topic to a Conversation.  We’ve seen a better result in community interaction in this format.  I’ll keep an eye on the thread as well!

SMB protocol ?

I would have thought about using object-storage protocol like S3-Compatible, but I can’t find technically relevant data from those arrays regarding protocol supports and best practices yet.

Do you plan to deploy from scratch, or replace an existing primary storage + MAs ?

Protocol can be important regarding library migration, for example..

Hi Laurent…

This will be deployed from scratch incl new MAs, so no migration involved..  Protocol Nodes for the ESS will be installed too.. These provides SMB, NFS and Object S. connectivity. Besides SMB, Object connectivity will be tested out too..
