Hi Ajai,

If you wanted to take offline backup, then the DB should be in mount state.

Please find the below BOL,

https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/expert/20215_configuring_oracle_subclients_for_offline_backups.html?_gl=1*cugujv*_gcl_au*MjA1OTU0MzY0OC4xNjkwMjE2NTM2

Lights out script will automatically bring down the DB and brings up once the backup completes.

Note: During offline backups, no user or application cannot access the DB.

Hi @Ajal

You can schedule offline backup by selecting offline mode. This will also have Lights out option which automatically brings down the database before the backup starts and brings it up again after backup completes.

https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/expert/20215_configuring_oracle_subclients_for_offline_backups.html

If you happen to turn off NOARCHIVELOG mode in the future, you will have to schedule online backups and decide whether to continue doing offline backups or not.

Thanks,

Sunil-
