Tapes Marked as Retired

Forum|alt.badge.img

New load of CommVualt 2022E,  System marked all of the brand new tapes as Retired Media, How do I get it set as usable Spare Media.  Have used older versions of CommVault but not the newer ones.

Hi @kvt

Whenever media is obtained from the scratch pool, the system checks the threshold values before it attempts to write to the media. If the threshold values are exceeded, the media is marked as Deprecated and it is moved to the Retired Media pool.

Please check the BOL for more information about Media Expiration Threshold Parameters:

Hi @kvt,

I would like you to perform the below checks,

  • Check if the media is compatible with the drive.
  • Check whether the tape is "Write-protected".
  • Accordingly, perform a health check of tape drive by involving hardware vendor.
