Question

SQL Server Windows authentication mode

Forum|alt.badge.img+6

Hi Community,

I have a question about the CommServ SQL server DB connections . When the SQL server authentication mode is modified from mixed-mode to Windows authentication mode, i can read the following in the below article :

Note: When you upgrade the Commvault software to a new version or a new service pack, you must change all Commvault services to use a domain system administrative account.”

Windows Authentication for Commvault SQL Server Connections

it means that if SQL are configured in Windows authentication mode, after an upgrade Commvault will automatically reset the SQL server authentication to mixed-mode ?

regards,

Christophe

Good afternoon.  It goes into mixed mode by default, because we need to utilize the sqladmin_cv and sqlexec_cv accounts which are local to the server.  We advise using windows domain accounts to leverage access to other users within AD.

Hello Orazan,

thank you for your answer. But in a way to secure the SQL server some security requirments (CIS level 1) is to use another SQL connections mode like Windows authentication mode.

So every updates will reset the SQL connection mode to mixed-mode ?

Regards,
