Does CV (11.28) support Azure Stack HCI 23H2

Hello @Joerg Paukner As per documentation, any versions later than 20H are supported. You should not face any problems with the configuration.

this means, that the Azure Resource Manager (ARM) is full supported? The question is, that AZHCI 23H2 is newly released.

I have the same ask from one of our customers and we need to confirm if Commvault 11.34.28 supports Azure Stack HCI OS 23H2 (version 25398.x) or not yet.

@Rajiv customers would like to know if newer versions were validated. It's great to hear Commvault supports version beyond 20H2, that was released late 2020, but they do not want to run into issues once they upgrade to a newer version requiring engineering effort to resolve the identified issue(s).

here an update after my installation of two ASHCI 23h2 cluster and a long story of ticketing with the support.

The ASHCI 23H2 activate the WDAC policy in Enforce mode. This will block all installation, because the installation package is not signed.

The solution:

1. Set the WDAC in Audit mode (PS: Enable-AsWdacPolicy -Mode Audit)
2. Run the CV installation
3. Create an own WDAC policy
4. Activate the new own policy. This is only necessar on one node, the policy will deploeyed on all nodes in cluster.
5. Set the WDAC in Enforce mode again (PS: Enable-AsWdacPolicy -Mode Enforce)

The backup will run.

The root cause of the issue I have found on a Veeam ticket. So I think, there is a little bit to do on CV side for the complete compatibility sentence.

@Joerg Paukner did you follow up on it with Commvault? How are things running now? Still stable? Any other learnings?

there are mistery things. The installation of the CV Agents has caused the communication lost of the cluster itself. The access node of the cluster had problems to WMI and could not communicate to the cluster manager. This was not solve able and so I re-deployed the whole cluster.

I will check with Dell the new installation, before install the CV agent again. I have not heart from support, if the DEV team has solved the problem with the certificate of the agent, that allows a clean install, like on other backup vendors. For me it seems, is the ASHCI 23H2 support a little bit experimental.

I will check and will share my findings here.

I assume you are referring to the support for ASHCI 23H2 from Commvault that feels experimental, right? Are you on the other hand still running on FR28?
