Hi,

how is the K8s backup in Commvault licensed? In this topic -

its written, that it is based on number of APPs via. the per VM licence. But what is an APP in Kubernetes meaning and how it is counted? Is it a daployment or service or POD or something else?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Jan

Good morning.  I have reached out to resources in relation to your question and have been provided the following answers:

Here App refers to the application, which is hosted in the Container, there can be multiple Apps hosted in 1 container.

POD can be a run on a single/multiple containers.

Kubernetes is licensed via the VM license, 1x per APP. I am unsure of the License part bro, as BOL is down to verify the Licensing guide.

I hope this is helpful.

App is deployment, statefulset or whole helm chart. So all depend how you deploy it. It’s quite tricky.
