Today, we are excited to welcome Appranix, a cloud application discovery and rebuild company, to the Commvault family. With Appranix, Commvault extends cyber recovery and resilience to include automated discovery and protection of distributed and dynamic cloud applications services, infrastructure and data.
The result is dramatically reduced risk and improved resilience with automated rebuilds for superior availability.
“By bringing in Appranix’s exceptional technology and talented workforce, we are unlocking the opportunity to marry our industry-leading recovery capabilities with their next-generation cloud-native rebuild and restoration capabilities,” said Sanjay Mirchandani, President & CEO, Commvault.

FAQ
What was announced?
On April 16, Commvault announced the acquisition of Appranix, a cloud application discovery and rebuild company.
How does this acquisition benefit our customers?
This acquisition further enhances Commvault’s cyber resilience capabilities, allowing you to rapidly rebuild and get critical distributed cloud applications and production infrastructure fully operational after an outage or cyberattack so that normal business functions can resume as quickly as possible.
Why did Commvault acquire Appranix?
Commvault acquired Appranix to further our vision to deliver a truly cyber resilience enterprise. With Appranix, Commvault extends cyber recovery and resilience to include automated discovery and protection of distributed and dynamic cloud applications services, infrastructure and data. The result is dramatically reduced risk and improved resilience with automated rebuilds for superior availability.
With Appranix, you can extend data recovery and make recovered data instantly accessible, available, and secure a full distributed cloud application recovery and environment rebuilds with Recovery-as-Code.
What does Appranix do?
Appranix safeguards your cloud applications by automatically discovering and backing up your entire application environment across platforms like AWS and Azure. This includes configurations, data, and even dependencies between different parts of your application. The backups are stored securely away from your production environment, and Appranix can even create recovery instructions for testing your disaster recovery plan. If an outage occurs, you can choose to restore your application in its original location or rebuild it in a different cloud account for extra redundancy.
Continuous application, data, and environment services discovery, mapping, and backups.
For data to be useful, it has to be accessible. Accessible through applications and APIs. Without that, it is simply information locked away in a vault. Understanding how that data is connected to the applications and infrastructure that serves it is critical to accelerating recovery times.
Recovery-as-Code
We believe that Commvault with Appranix is the only cyber resilience solutions that can automatically discover, map dependencies, and write Recovery-as-Code automatically. This creates a complete record of application dependencies, infrastructure, and data without relying on individual teams. This code can be used to run resilience tests and perform full production recoveries with just a few clicks. It not only recovers data but also rebuilds the entire application environment for you to recover to.
Full cloud application and environment rebuilds
With full cloud application and environment rebuilds, cyber recovery can now go beyond recovering data and extend to making sure the full applications and infrastructure can be securely, reliably and scalably accessed and used by the people who need them to conduct business.

Will this change the way I work with Commvault?
Nothing will change in the way we do business together.
When will Appranix be integrated into Commvault Cloud?
The initial integration will be launched this summer.
