Hello,

I would like to know how the “release license” option works for Office 365.

When using it, license is recovered and it can be used with another user, correct?

Will we be able to recover the old backup data of the user who is no longer licensed? if so, for how long?

Thanks

Sergio

Hi @Sergio V

Mind confirming for me what feature release you are using?

In general, yes, if you were only using the exchange app, if you remove the user from content (not delete), then i’d expect the license to release and you be able to re-use it.

Please note however if you are using multple o365 apps (e.g. onedrive and sharepoint) and the user has data also protected by them, the user will still consume a license even if you’ve stopped archiving them with the o365 mailbox agent.

Regards,

Chris
