Backup of SAP HANA failing

Hi Commvault,

 

We have configured backups for SAP HANA and when we re trying the backups we are getting below error.

Error Code: [18:146] Description: SAP HANA Error [hdbsql execution Failed. /usr/sap/EHK/HDB00/exe/hdbsql -t -U BACKUPSYS -d SYSTEMDB -C "backup data for ERK using backint ('1857225_COMPLETE_DATA_BACKUP') TOOLOPTION 'BACKUP -j 1857225 -a 2:3053 -t 1 -jt 1857225:4:1:0:0:30326 -data -at 135 -d bppwcvt02.ad.fujitsu.mazdaeur.com*bppwcvt02*8400 -vm Instance001 -cn bdvlecdb01'"* 447: backup could not be completed: [110122] A data backup cannot be created because another data backup is running or a storage snapshot has been prepared. SQLSTATE: HY000]. Source: bdvlecdb01, Process: ClHanaAgent  

 

Request you to please review the logs. I have attached them.

one of the recommendations on the SAP note to troubleshoot this issue is restart the database 

SAP HANA note → https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/0002452735

 

SAP Admin could review the SAP KB using the above link for assistance and engage SAP support if you still need assistance

Hi @Rahul18081 

 

The error could happen if there is another job running either from commvault or  native backup method.

 

Apart from this please engage your SAP admin to check if there are any hung backint process on the SAP HANA level

This is one of the common errors we see with SAP HANA backups 

SAP HANA admin could review the below SAP Note 

SAP HANA note → https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/0002452735

 

One of the queries that could help the admin to check any hung processes 

 

select * from "SYS"."M_BACKUP_CATALOG" where STATE_NAME = 'running'

SAP HANA reports that there is a backup in progress.

It is expected that SAP HANA will not allow another job when a job is currently in progress

 

If there is no native job running at the moment then it could be a hung process, please engage a SAP HANA admin or SAP support to clear the hung process. Ensure there are no native backups running and rerun the job from Commvault.

Looks like the job was started on Feb 16th which still shows on the hana level

 

Either the job is still running or its a hung process,

Shankar if SAP Hana admin can’t clear the hung process then rebooting the server will clear the hung process.
