I know the VSA client, an our hypervisor is VMware, uses a snapshot to perform the backup. Does this process modify the “last access” date for the VM and or files? I know you can configure the File iData agent to track this but cannot find if the snapshot modifies this attribute. Thanks.

Hey @Bill - Good news, the snap should not the access time.

You can verify this on a test windows VM by running:

C:\>dir /ta

This will show you the last access time of all the files in the folder

Then, you can create a snapshot (quiesce ON, snap memory OFF), and then running it again to double-check that it has not changed.

VMware uses CBT to track and backup recent changes.
