Hi,
we use Commvault Simpana 11.20.36 and we have two Virtual Agents to backup our vSphere VMs.
On the first enviroment the transport mode for VMWARE is set to auto.
In the reports i can see that the transport mode for backup handles out SAN, the other enviroment only NBD.
https://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11/article?p=32037.htm

What can be the reason that the one environment does not save in san mode?
Could it be a reason that in san zoning the esxi hosts of each cluster cannot see the media agent?

Regards
Dennis

Hello @Dennis,

The most likely cause of this is that the VSA Proxy doesn’t have access to the SAN LUN’s here.

Note that the VSA must be Physical to use SAN Transport.

From the Commvault Base Directory on the VSA you can run the VMFSSanInfo utility (via Command Prompt) with the “Datastores” or “Disks” switch to print out the VMFS Volume to Disk Mapping.

Example Command:

C:\Program Files\Commvault\ContentStore\Base\VMFSSanInfo.exe disks

Best Regards,

Michael
