Convert Physical Linux/Windows Machines to AWS

Forum|alt.badge.img+6

Hi, today customers are more and more thinking about hybrid solution. We got the following question: “We would like to implement an hybrid environment (one DC & AWS). In the DC, we have some physical Windows/Linux computers. In case of DR, would it be possible to convert those physical computers to Virtual machines in AWS from a backup residing in AWS?”.

Well, in the Commvault documentation, I saw that the possibility exists to convert physical Windows machines to Azure (Virtualize Me). Are there any plans to convert AWS (also for physical Linux computers)?

Thanks.

I was able to find out that it is in the works, though I can’t give an ETA just yet.

I’m going to add you to the change request (Commitment Request 303073) for tracking (edit: I can’t add you to a CRR as it is a commitment from a specific customer, though I’m looking further into this for you).

I noted that Linux was part of the request as well, so I’ll see if I can confirm if that is part of the initial feature.

Great question!  I see we have it for Azure as well, though AWS is not listed.

I’ll check with our dev team and see if it’s coming/on the roadmap.

Spoke to some of the people directly involved in the project who suggested contacting your Account Rep to get a CCR created for this (if Linux is a requirement) and since I can’t discuss future releases.

Let me know if you have any questions!
