we are currently using 11.20 for our environment since this one is on LTS.

if we upgrade on the newest version with LTS which is 2022e. do we need to purchase a new one or we can use the existing license that we have without paying additional?

Hi @Enzou

I would recommend you to read the following post that explains the releases and support.

Also https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/expert/1479_announcements.html

To answer your question, in general most cases will have no impact in the licensing you currently own, however, I would review the document Changes in Commvault Platform Release 2022E and make sure you are aware of possible implications.

To amend to what @dude already wrote: Current functionality that you have remain the same. It might be, depending on your license, that new functionality requires an additional license, but in all honesty I myself have never experienced this. One thing to note: especially if you are using agents for specific workloads who are not so common to check the list of changes. In case a specific agent is deprecated than you should leave that client running in the last supported version.
