Hello Team,

In our environment we have are planning to a VM migration from one Vcenter to the other one.

I am thinking of commvault instead of Veeam application to perform migration.

In commvault thinking of using VM replication option to migrate VM from source to destination vcenter with periodic replication. Once replication is completed I can stop and continue services using destination vcenter.

Please suggest, if its good to go or do we have any other option to perform the migration.

Hello @Mentee

Can you confirm why you want to configure replication if it is just a onetime event?

Could you not just do a restore of the data to the other side once?

Its important to note logically Commvault “ replication” is just a scheduled backup and then restore of that data in the destination.

Kind regards

Albert Williams

Thank you for the answer,

I was thinking replication will be faster but as you say it will be same then I should proceed with restore.

but do we have any other method to do migration?

I would like highlight that we do have some critical application on which changes happening so if I go with restore i might lose some data. For this, replication seems to be a good option?

Or do you have any other suggestions ?
