Meaning of CommVault

Forum|alt.badge.img+7

Hello team,

This might be a little unrelated question but I’m really curious what “CommVault” means.

Just imagine it’s combination of two words.

I’m still a newbie and not an English native speaker.

Could you put this simply?

Thank you.

I think you put it accurately!  To me, it was a combination of computer and vault.  In the olden days, we essentially did backups of data, but now the product does so much more….content indexing, analytics, and so much more!

Hi, @Hongmo Kim - that is a great question, thanks for asking!

As @Mike Struening noted, it is a combination of two words. Vault referring to things (data, communications) stored securely.  We’re celebrating our 25th anniversary, and if you are interested please check out more of the history in this blog post and timeline (with the original logo).
