To view Oracle RMAN logs for backup or restore jobs in Commvault, follow these steps:

CommCell Console (Java GUI):

  1. Go to the CommCell Browser and navigate to the client computer.
  2. Right-click the agent (Oracle) and select Backup History or Restore History.
  3. In the Job History window, right-click the job and select View RMAN log.
  • This method allows you to view RMAN logs for jobs that are less than 7 days old.

Extending RMAN Log Retention:

  • By default, RMAN logs are pruned after 7 days. You can configure a user directory for RMAN logs or back up the JobResults directory using a file system subclient to retain logs longer.

For Jobs Older Than 7 Days:

  • RMAN logs are pruned from the default directory after 7 days (unless retention is extended).

  • To view logs for older jobs, log in to the client machine and browse the JobResults folder:

    • Unix:
      /opt/commvault/iDataAgent/jobResults/CV_JobResults/2/0/job_ID/operation.out

    • Windows:
      C:\Program Files\Commvault\ContentStore\iDataAgent\JobResults\CV_JobResults\2\0\job_ID\operation.out

    • Here, operation is either "restore" or "backup" and job_ID is the job's ID.
