Dear Team,

Good day!

We currently have a physical server that is acting as both the CommServe and MediaAgent on a Windows platform.

We are planning to migrate the entire CommServe role to a Windows-based virtual machine. Additionally, the same physical server will be reconfigured with a Linux operating system to function as a MediaAgent.

At present, the disk library mount paths are configured on DAS (Direct Attached Storage) connected to the existing physical server. We would like guidance on how to perform this migration seamlessly, ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing backup and restore operations.

Regards,

Mani D

hello @Manics.mca

First I would like to ask whether you have sufficient storage in your environment to handle the data size If NAS storage is available, that would be ideal you would need to configure an additional MediaAgent with the new storage and then move the data to this storage using an Auxiliary Copy. In this case, the new MediaAgent would hold all the data. If the data is currently stored on a UNC path, the migration can be done easily using the Replace MediaAgent workflow please let me know whether NAS storage is available or if we will be using DAS storage .
