Dear Commvault Team,
Good day. I hope this message finds you well.
We kindly request your assistance in identifying the path or location where the following procedure should be executed:
Recommended Action (Test First in Non-Production):
To address this, you can configure an additional setting on the VSA proxy to disable snapshot verification. This may help bypass snapshot failures and allow the backup to complete. Please follow these steps in a test environment:
Add the following additional setting on the VSA Proxy:
The key is not added to the library
"bVerifySnapshotCreationAllowed"
, so it won't appear in the search. However, you can add it manually.
- Name: bVerifySnapshotCreationAllowed
- Category: VirtualServer
- Type: Integer
- Value: 0
Restart Commvault services on the VSA proxy after applying the setting.
Monitor the next backup job to verify behavior.
If the test is successful, you may proceed to apply the same in production.
I will review the logs for Job ID 117296 and provide further updates or actions based on the findings, if necessary.
Please let me know once the test is performed or if you need assistance applying the setting.
We are unsure where the VSA proxy is located, and we would appreciate your guidance on how to proceed.
This procedure was suggested due to recurring issues with incomplete or failed backups of virtual servers, such as the following errors:
- Warning: Production checkpoint failed for the VM. Checkpoint operation for 'XXXX'
- Failed: Virtual machine aXXXX] is configured with a virtual fiber channel Host Bus Adapter. Disks or storage exposed over virtual FC are not protected during backup. App-aware backup is skipped for this virtual machine.
We were informed that the above procedure might help resolve these issues.
Additionally, we would like to know if it is possible to schedule a virtual support session (outside of phone calls), preferably with a translator, to assist us further with this matter.
Thank you in advance for your support.
Best regards,
Monica Prieto
