Hi, Does a metrics server have it’s own Commcell or is it just a client to a Commcell that it;s collecting data from ? I’m trying to work out if the metric server needs a regular DB maintenance run - thanks for any advice.

For the on-prem metrics server, you need to configure data collection for the CS machine .
If you install both the on-prem metrics reporting server and commserve software on the same machine, data collection will be automatically configured.
Regarding the second part, the metrics reporting server uses SQL as the database engine, which is automatically installed during the installation of the Metrics Reporting Server software.
As for database maintenance, DB maintenance not required, just any important updates released by Microsoft, which will be enough
