Does the commvault backup account need to be a domain administrator or a local administrator? or can we give a different lower permissions

Burak, it depends on which application this user will perform backup operations. For example: if you're going to use this user to connect to VMware vCenter to backup VMs, that user needs specific permissions on the VMware environment.

Good morning.  Can you please be more specific?  Are you referring to the Commvault Admin account or are you referring to a Service Account for a specific agent being used to protect an application or file system?

We have a "backupuser" user in Windows AD for backups .

So this is a service account

I want to learn about what permisson should we give to this “bakcupuser” account on the server
