Exchange 2019 DB Backup failure due to VSS

Hello Team,

 

We are configuring Exchange 2019 DB backup, while running backup it's showing an VSS related errors.

The exchange DAG is configured IP less and without DNS feature. While adding DAG client in commcell is successfully added and discover DB also with out any issue.

 

We checked DAG client check readiness, its showing communication error.

 

Please advise any specific configuration needed for DAG IP less feature.

Hi @Anand K 

There are no specific configuration requirement for IP less DAG vs an IP DAG.

We will need to ensure the steps are followed from our documentation.

In General VSS related are errors are normally related to the VSS writers not being in the correct state.

Please check the Windows event logs for further information around the time the backup is launched and can sometime be addressed with a reboot

 

eg. [TYPE] Error [TIME]  [SOURCE] MSExchangeRepl [COMPUTER]  [DESCRIPTION] The Microsoft Exchange Replication service VSS Writer instance 3f64a24f-ac16-447e-adb5-838863f9cd8f couldn't find file C:\ExchangeDatabases\DAG2-DB008\DAG2-DB008.log\E0100000001.log so the backup operation is being aborted.
