Hi

We have multiple archive and cleanup policies, and we want to assign them based on Active Directory (AD) group membership. However, we’re encountering an issue where the default policy takes precedence, even when a user is a member of both the general group and a specific group.

Our goal is to ensure that the policy assigned to the specific group overrides the general/default policy. How can we adjust the priority or enforcement logic so that users always receive the more specific policy when they belong to multiple AD groups

Hello @Burak Kosker

If a user is apart of 2 rule sets the following is taken into consideration:

if one of those rule sets are ‘backup this user’ and the other is ‘do not backup this user’, the deny will take precedent

If both groups are to add the user to backups, the rule set that has the longest retention will be honoured and followed.

Do these rules help explain what is going on in your environment?

Kind regards
Albert Williams
