Hello,

Our company use 1 MA on each site, they have 4 sites.

each physical MA has some dedup Databases.

We plan a hardware refresh with 2 MA on each site (gridstor mode) in the same we plan to migrate our backup storage from DAS to NAS.

What is the better approach to perform the refresh with less complexity

  • build the new MAs
  • move Index and DDB to the new MA
  • connect new Storage libraries to the new MA
  • On existing Storage policies, create a synchronous copy that point the the new MA and new libraries
  • promote the secondary copy to primary
  • decommission the old MA

Thnaks for the help!

It would help to know your existing retention and secondary copy configuration, but your process looks fine - except there is no need to relocate Deduplication Databases, as your process is dependent on having a new Storage Pool as the target for your Synchronous Copy.
