Hi,

I want to recover a exchange DB from tape,

the backup is written on two different tapes. But we only have one LTO4 drive.
When I want to recover the Exchange DB, the job is always aborted because the second tape cannot be read. The first tape is in the LTO drive. I have no way of changing the tape during the recovery job. How can I solve the problem?

Thanks

Ralph

Hello @Ralph_St

It should simply just pause the reading, load the other tape and carry on.

Can you advise the CV version you are running?

Can you confirm both tapes are available in your library?

Can you advise if you are restoring to the disk of the MA reading from the tape library? If not i recommend to do this type of restore to take as many hops out of the equation.

Kind regards

Albert Williams

Since you only have a single tape head you may need to create a new copy in the storage policy (I’d recommend a selective copy with no automatic selection), then picking the job you need to restore for the copy manually, running an auxiliary copy from tape to a disk library.

Once you have the job on a disk library you should then be able to browse/restore normally to restore the database.

Good luck!

Thank you very much for the tip Michael, it worked, I was now able to restore and mount the Exchange DB in order to access a deleted mailbox. With the selective copy I could even only select the necessary client
