Hello

We are using exchange database agent to backup the dag.

We have the next setting enabled:

"Optimize for message level recovery".

Now when we try to restore messages it only gives us an option to restore as a pst file. Is there a way to restore directly to the mailbox?

hello @arik

Did you enable block-level backup? You can recover individual messages if it is enabled.

Here’s the link for more information:

Hello All / @arik

If the option “Optimize for message level recovery” is selected, then that is enabling block level.

I assume you are using Command Center? Believe restore to a mailbox was only added in FR36+.

You can use Java GUI however you must setup the Exchange info details as per:

https://documentation.commvault.com/11.38/expert/setting_exchange_server_and_exchange_service_account_details_to_restore_to_mailbox.html

Thank you for the answer.

When i configure the service account it does not ask for smtp adress, the version of the exchange is 2016.

On which server do i disable the mapi over http?

  1. Log on as the service account to the access node.
in this case it would be the MA that is used for the browse

Sorry with the delay, i had to deal with something else.

i have disabled the mapi over http on the MA.

The messages restore fails with the next error:

Error code : 72:106

Restore failed with exception [ mail providor enumerate mailbox list failed].

Thank you for the help, looks like it works now.

I do have a problem that when i try to browse the mailboxes it wont show me all of them, and the ones that dont show fail when i try to do in place restore.

Basically i can backup those mailboxes but when i try to restore its like it cant find them and acts like they dont exist.
