Hi All,

- first storage policy daily Incremental and every firday Synthetic Full (Run Incremental Backup > Before Synthetic Full) keep 7 days 1 cycle

- first disk daily Inc and Synthetic Full go to auxiliary copy of second disk keep 7 days 1 cycle

- Synthetic Full setup use full media pool and incremental backup setup use daily media pool 

- second disk daily Inc auxiliary copy of daily tape media keep 28 days 4 cycle

- second disk weekly Full auxiliary copy of weekly full tape media keep 28 days 4 cycle

- every week change all tape media

- Synthetic Full backup start 16 Aug 2024, check tape retain 12 Sep

- incremental backup start 17 Aug 2024, check tape retain 13 Sep


Q1. when will the full backup start 16 Aug 2024 and incremental start 17 Aug 2024 tape media allow overwrite?

Q2. we check commvault training material and it will age when finished 5 cycle (if setup 4 cycle), is full tape media allow overwrite on 13 Sep? is incremental tape media allow overwrite start on 14 Sep?

The data forecast and retention report will answer almost all of these questions for you. You are able to also run this on a future date as well to see if the data will age out on X date or if it will be retained for some reason.
