Hi! We need to update our Hyperscale cluster v2 to v3 before the end of support.

It’s a 3 node cluster with about 750TB (50% full).

How smooth is the update and how much downtime should I plan for it?

Hi @typer100,

In a 3 node cluster each node would take roughly 90 minutes to complete the migration, but you do not need to plan a downtime as the migration is a non-disruptive operation leaving your cluster operational during migration process.

The migration process consists of the following phases:

  • Pre-Migration Validation: Verify that the existing HyperScale cluster meets the required criteria for migration.

  • Migration Execution: Update all the nodes in HyperScale 2.X cluster to HyperScale 3.X using the provided ISO image.

  • Post-Migration Check: Validate the status of the cluster following the migration and perform the necessary follow-up tasks.

Please refer the migration document to know more about the process

Thanks. In the pre-check, there’s a question about : Are you registering with Metallic (y/n):

Not sure what is the answer to that question. We use Metallic for secondary copies.

Tks
