In place migration of a HyperScale X 2.x cluster to a HyperScale X 3.x cluster

We have a 6 node HPE Apollo 4200 Gen10 reference architecture cluster that we need to migrate In place from a HyperScale X 2.x cluster to a HyperScale X 3.x cluster.

We are currently running at Commvault version 11.32.80.

Is it better to upgrade to the latest release of 11.32 or upgrade to the latest release of 11.36 before performing this migration ? 

Each node has 24 18TB drives. How long will this migration take ?

Can backups/restores still run against this cluster while the migration is in progress ?

Should the migration process be started from the iLO remote console ?

The root password on all 6 nodes are different is this ok ?

The migration script says it will ask for “Root password of existing cluster:” Is this the root password of the server we are running the migration script from ?

    Thanks for reaching out, I believe you will find a lot of your answers in our documentation.

    Backup and restore may run during the migration, although you will face minor disruptions between job attempts.

    I would also run through the script as it will produce a validation report and what items you should address before proceeding with the upgrade.
