Hi,

I have a question, where the answer just might be trial and error and worst case scenario is performance loss. But other teams experienced a crash of there ESX systems after modifying this setting. So, I thought let me first check here.

From a legal obligation to take measures to save energy (in a data center) we are obliged to set servers to so-called balanced mode where possible.

We have a hyperscale environment, 3 Dell PowerEdge R740xd servers.
If we enable the setting; Power Factor Correction (PFC) here on all 3 servers, could that possibly cause problems, this also in combination with CommVault?

Regards,
Danny

We also experienced massive performance problems in a VMware environment due to NICs encountering drastic network speed drops. It took us a while to find the exact root cause, because it would only advocate under load. I can only speak for my experiences with HPE gen10 and gen plus and with both generaties we encountered these issues.

Hi Onno,

Thanks for your answer. I guess we have to monitor closely than. Systems will not be on high alert and may throttle some processes. As long as they are not going into a deep sleep and everything stops it should be easy to revert 😉
Give my regards, to Mike

Thanks,
Danny
