Customer is backing Azure NetApp Files. Can they tap on CV managed backup gateway so they dont need to manage any infra?

What are the caveats? I understand that the traffic will be going through public endpoints? Any egress charges for customer?

Hi @Pragathi R S ,

PFB details and document related to Azure Netapp Files backup and restrictions.

Azure NetApp Files - overview
https://documentation.commvault.com/11.40/commcell-console/azure_netapp_files.html

Restrictions for Azure NetApp Files :-https://documentation.commvault.com/11.40/software/restrictions_for_azure_netapp_files.html

Commvault provides comprehensive support for protecting and recovering data stored in Azure NetApp Files (ANF). Below are key points regarding its capabilities, supported agents, IntelliSnap integration, and important restrictions:

Supported Agents

You can use the following agents to run streaming backups of Azure NetApp Files:

  • Linux File System
  • Microsoft Windows File System
  • Microsoft SQL Server
  • Oracle
  • SAP HANA

For IntelliSnap backups (snapshots) of volumes (CIFS shares and NFS exports), you can create a dedicated Azure NetApp Files client.

IntelliSnap Support

  • IntelliSnap can be used to take snapshots of Network Share Backup NFS (UNIX File System), Network Share Backup CIFS (Windows File System), SAP HANA, SAP for Oracle, and Oracle databases with Azure NetApp Files.
  • For NFS exports, install the Linux File System Agent on the access node and configure the client and subclient for ANF.
  • For CIFS shares, install the Windows File System Agent on the access node and configure the client and subclient for ANF.

    Restrictions:

  • Multi-node restores are not supported.

  • Wildcard character “*” is not honored in exclude list. For example, “10.7.1.7:/*” does not filter the volumes under the interface 10.7.1.7. Commvault recommends you specify paths without wildcard characters like “10.7.1.7:/”.

  • To backup Azure NetApp Files basic volumes, the access node and the basic volume must be of the same region.
