I was wondering if Microsoft 365 Family can be back-up within Metallic. I gave it a try to set it up but was unsucessful and received “Sorry, but we’re having trouble with signing you in.” as I tried to login into Microsoft with my family credentials.

According to Microsoft documentation, Microsoft 365 Family only comes with the 'Outlook' app, not Managed Exchange. https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/microsoft-365/buy/compare-all-microsoft-365-products. Metallic is an enterprise tool to protect managed exchange mailboxes being hosted by Microsoft. Microsoft 365 Business Basic would be the type or protect that would be protected by Metallic. As per the documentation Microsoft 365 Business Basic comes with "Email hosting with 50 GB mailbox" which is what would be protected by us. https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/microsoft-365/business/compare-all-microsoft-365-business-products. If you do not have managed exchange, I would contact your email provider that you have configured within Outlook to see what email backup/protection options they can provide you. Hope this helps.
