I am using Commvault Cloud and have a retention set to 30 days but, when I review my jobs they are still listed.  What else do I need look at to confirm that the system is pruning the jobs and if my configuration is correct.

Hi @JamesACS ,

Request to review the Data fore cast report to understand the reason for Jobs still retained in storage and
a list of common aging reasons and their meanings can be found here:

https://documentation.commvault.com/v11/commcell-console/data_aging_troubleshooting.html

1. Data Retention Forecast and Compliance Report (CommCell Console)

This report helps you understand why jobs are not aging and what is preventing data from being pruned.

Steps:

  1. Open the CommCell Console.
  2. Go to the Reports tab.
  3. Select Other Reports, then Forecast.
  4. In the General tab, select Show data retained beyond basic days retention only.
  5. Go to the Storage Policy tab:
    • Deselect the top-level "Storage Policies" checkbox.
    • Select only the policies relevant to your library.
  6. Click Run.
  7. Review the report, focusing on the Reason for not Aging column to see why jobs are not being pruned.

This is going to be a loaded conversation.  Retention is based on Days AND Cycles.

Short version:  You’re likely to see jobs past 30 days due to the Cycles requirement.

How far past 30 days depends on the Full frequency.  Up to 60 days might be expected.

Thanks,
Scott
