A Metallic software update is now available for your Windows systems. We recommend you perform this upgrade before Sep 9, 2023, when Metallic will automatically update the software.
A onetime system reboot is required to complete the upgrade of Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable (x64) – 14.36.32532 which is included in the Metallic software update.

- What happens if no updates are done?
- Backups will continue to operate.
- Which systems will be need this update and reboot?
- This applies to Windows systems with Metallic software in your datacenter or cloud environment.
- The reboot is only required for windows systems with an older version of Visual C++ i.e., if Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable (x64) – 14.36.32532 is not already installed.
- What is the expected software version after the update is complete?
- 3201.9 or higher.
- Does the Windows system need to be powered on?
- Yes. Ensure the Systems status is Online before performing upgrades and reboot.
- Will Metallic force the update?
- Starting Sep 9th, Metallic will force updates to your backup gateway and systems (including Hyper-V Nodes) running the Virtual Server agent package.
- Starting Sep 15th, Metallic will force updates to your client and laptops.
- Will Metallic force a reboot?
- No. The customer must reboot the systems to complete the upgrade.
- Where can we get the upgrade packages?
- The Metallic upgrade is already available to all customers. Customers can use the Upgrade Software feature in the Command Center for a select server or server group. Refer to the guided tutorial for more information.
- Will the Metallic upgrade be available on-demand so customers can perform the upgrade during their maintenance window or patching cycles?
- Metallic packages are already available to all customers. Customers can use the Upgrade Software feature in the Command Center for each server or server group. Refer to the guided tutorial for more information.
- What if the both the backup gateway and client are updated but not rebooted?
- The backup will continue to operate. The upgraded backup gateway must be rebooted before or along with the upgraded clients.
- What happens If the backup gateway is updated but not rebooted, then a client is updated and rebooted?
- Client backups will fail. Backups will continue after the backup gateway is rebooted.
