I am trying to install on-prem backup gateway and connecting to Metallic but getting error.

I have opened outbound communication ports from backend gateway to Metallic on these ports 443, 8400 and 8403.

at the firewall, I can see traffic is using ports 443, 8400 and 8403.

From this gateway I am able to access the URL https://metrics.metallic.io., but during the installation, it is not connecting to the Metallic.

What ports need to allow apart from above to make the communication between on-prem gateway and Metallic.

This should work

  • TCP 443 outbound must be open to access the following:

    • Commvault Cloud backup service (*.metallic.io)

    • Commvault Cloud storage (*.blob.core.windows.net)

    • Azure services (*.cloudapp.azure.com)

    • If applicable, your storage location in AWS (*.s3.amazonaws.com)

    • I noted that you might need (*.commvault.com) too, some binaries are pushed from here

  • TCP 8400 and TCP 8403 must be open between the backup gateway and any on-prem data sources that you want to protect. Depending on the operation, either the client or the backup gateway can open a connection.

Hi.  Please check the Network Connectivity guide for the ports and URLs that need to be accessible: https://docs.metallic.io/metallic/network_connectivity.html

You can also check the install folder for the log files and check cvfwd log for additional details that may point to blocks from firewalls and security services.
