As you know, to back up public folders, there is a need for a service account.
Could you tell me whether I need to grant any o365 licenses to the service account or not. I'm wondering I need to grant any license to service account.

Thanks for reaching out on the Metallic community! The required service account doesn't have to be a Licensed User Mailbox.
