Scheduling Bandwidth Throttling

Morning,

Is it possible to schedule client throttling? I’m getting users complaining of sudden drops in bandwidth at odd times of the day, and when it happened to a tech, he was able to pinpoint it to a backup in progress. It dropped performance from 2 Gb/s to under 100 Mb/s, briefly, but it was very noticeable to all on that segment.

Thanks!

Roger

Hi Roger

The functionality for throttling the bandwidth is not exposed in the SAAS interface.

You can set a blackout window on a server group that will stop server from running backups during those hours.  The relevant servers can be added to the group.

I would recommend reaching out to the CSM team or support with the details of the workloads and throttling requirements and they will be able to assist.

Regards

Andy

There are few ways,

either set up a blackout window Creating a Blackout Window for a Server Group ideally at the Server Group level or if you wish for entire company via Manage > Company. This will prevent selected backups from running

Most likely you can ask Commvault to set some limits e.g. at Server Group level too. The feature is in place, it’s simply not exposed to Saas customer’s as Akirby suggested, but it’s present in the core on-prem software. - Network Bandwidth Throttling: Options
