We have a lot Team sites. Now we are getting site which emailaddress is skipped from the backup with the reason: The SMTP address has no mailbox associated with it.

It has a emailaddress. Team site is active. I compared the site with some others, but I see no difference.

Does anyone have a solution?

Thanks in advance!

Hi @Williamvandenberg,

Good day!

When you see the error "The SMTP address has no mailbox associated with it" for a Team site during backup, it means Commvault cannot find a corresponding Exchange mailbox for the email address assigned to that Team. This is a common issue and can occur even if the Team site appears active and has an email address.

Ensure the mailbox is present and has a valid Exchange Online license. Mailboxes without a valid license or that do not exist in Microsoft 365 are skipped during backup.

If the mailbox is a member of an excluded AD group, it will be skipped even if it is included elsewhere

Confirm the mailbox is accessible using Outlook or Outlook Web App.
Optionally, use EWS Editor to test mailbox connectivity.

Strange, but it's not an error. I saw the error because of an other error.

Teams mailboxes dont need a Exchange Online license?
