Access Node OS requirement for AWS EC2 snapshot streaming Backup

Hi Team,

 

We have our AWS environment with 90% of Windows base servers and 10% Linux based servers.

We have recommended our customer to use Linux base Media Agents and Linux base Access nodes

My question is will Linux base access node be able to perform file level recovery for snapshot base backup. Performing mount activity for Windows snapshot backup on Linux Access Node will work or not.

 

Also please recommend Commvault best practices for the same.

Hi Rahul,

Windows guest file recovery can be done using a Linux access node, unless the disk is dynamic or using ReFS.

The other notable limitation with a linux based access node is that it cannot leverage the import/export transport mode.
