Auto Recovery for Azure VM

We’d like to use Auto recovery for Azure VM, replicate Azure VM from region 1 to region 2, may I know how it workes?

Create Azure VM snapshot then replicate to remote site? or streaming backup and replicate to remote site.

Replication includes creation of integrity snapshot and then deploy VM using blob storage.
