Hi all,

is there any way or feature whith which we can nearly 100% automatically validate our backups of VMs, DBs (MSSQL and/or Oracle) and maybe File Shares?
Also the jobs/validations should be documentated within an report or something else.
More and more frequently our customers are asking for such a kind of process/feature.
In the past we walk through PoCs to handle the request with features such as Virutal Lab or VM Validation.
But this kind of "automation" is not what the customers are looking for. Furthermore this way is missing the function of "randomization" of the to be restored objects (VMs).

Do you have any experience with that request?

Hi @skoomer
I hope you’re doing well.

I’m currently using Application Validation which uses the Live Mount feature to automate the recovery test plan process. It supports both VMs and the applications you mentioned, such as SQL and Ora DBs.

iam using automatic validation on a schedule for VM groups, but it can also be run manually if needed.

You can find more details here:

https://documentation.commvault.com/v11/software/application_validation_for_vmware_vms.html

For reporting, we’re using a custom script to generate all Application Validation results in a friendly interface i will check \with @Sougato Roy  I’m allowed to share it (due to the new community policies).

In the meantime, you can monitor Validation Status directly from the Command Center Virtualization Dashboard.

Let me know if you’d like more details.
