I was trying to setup LDAP commcell->security. I do have port open but getting an error while setup.
so I was concerned if it is possible to setup LDAP/ADÂ under to commserve which is laid under a workgroup?

Yes it is, but you need to install at least a file system agent on a domain joined machine (or domain controller) to use that server as a LDAP relay configuration. Whilst configuring the identity server you should be able to select an option called something like connect using client.
