Commvault exporter

Hello community!

I want to monitor my commvault environment with Grafana.

There are some products which contain built-in exporters for prometheus(for example: RedHat ceph), and you can enable this exporter.

Does anyone know if commvault has this kind of feature?

* I know I can use the API but I'm asking about this specific feature.

@Orazan You mean, configure the syslog server and then use my grafana to communicate with it?

No official release from Commvault at this moment.

Syslog forwarding is not an option here, not if you’d like to have all the events you’d like turn into useful dashboards. Only main log files are forwarded. I tested this in my production environment, and had customer support confirm this for me - not all system logs are forwarded by Syslog. In the end I had to use a different solution to forward all the log files I needed to ELK, where Grafana could query for useful dashboard data…

 

Prometheus exporters are supposed to make application monitoring easy and are widely adopted as solid open-source tools for metrics collection in general. Commvault, as software vendor, is way overdue with it’s own exporter.

I would open a CMR! Would be great to see Commvault starting to embrace more opensource tooling. Sure, there are many tools out there and you can't select them all, but we also see more and more customers adopting Prometheus.

Happy to open CMR if it’s not on roadmap already. Prometheus is standard now days and it would be good to see official node exporter. If company base on prometheus & grafana it’s super simple to give client a metric with backup status and helthcheck. It would reduce mail report that usually go to spam.
