CV - both java and console interfact are quite slow

Interesting. Check out the EvMgrS.log and CVD.log file on the CommServe - see if it says anything about stored procedure timeouts or locks - there could be clues in there. Each stored procedure is measured in terms of performance and a log is printed if it exceeds the expected time.

Other than that, the obvious ones are CPU/Memory on the CommServe itself. Maybe check those out once you hit the restore dialog and see if there is a spike?

Sorry, my MS SQL reference was to the internal MS SQL that CV users (or so we thought, spitballing here).  I haven’t nailed down slowness between checking Oracle vs MS SQL, but I can do that tomorrow.  Our databases with a large number of datafiles are Oracle; our MS SQL databases never have more than a handful at most.

Hey ​@Chris Newman - appreciate the detail. I think this might be one for support to look at - I think its a difficult one to solve here as it likely needs correlation with various logs to figure out the root cause.

For the apples to apples comparison, please compare with Oracle database with small number of datafiles too. We can catch up tomorrow once you have some more info.

I’ve not found any difference in platform or datafiles, general slowness.  Most of the time seems to be spent from the gui home page, simply clicking on ‘Instances’ or ‘Databases’ takes 20 seconds to load.
