Hi,

is there an option to adjust the values for Average Q&I Time and Primary Records ?

Actually value in SP40

Good < 600 μs Or >= 600 μs and < 160 Million

Warning 600-800 μs and >= 160 Million Or DDB needs an upgrade

Critical >= 800 μs and >= 160 Million

I need to change this values a bit.

Arlie say:

How to Adjust DDB Q&I Time Thresholds:

  1. Open the CommCell Console.
  2. Go to Control Panel > Media Management.
  3. Select the Deduplication tab.
  4. Locate and adjust the following parameters:
    • DDB horizontal scaling threshold QI Time
    • Warning Threshold for Average Q&I Time
    • Critical Threshold for Average Q&I Time

But this options arent available in SP40

Hi @SSchmidt,

I think this could be changed in the past but when I ask Arlie about this, it states that these values cannot be changed (anymore). If you need alerts at other threshold, you can create custom alerts.

Could you tell me the reason why you need to change these values?

Kind regards,

Paul

Hi @SSchmidt,

I can understand that. The threshold is there for a reason but when you are so close, big changes don't seem worth it.

Is it always like this or just temporary? If it is always like this, the only way to keep an eye out for other issues would be a custom alert which will inform you when the DDB hits a value above the one you are expecting. I don't think the option to change this will come back.

You might also want to take a look at other ways of getting this value down. Think about excluding the folder/disk from anti-virus scanning, offloading the VSS snapshot to another disk for the DDB backup or checking other programs on the MA that might impact Q&I time.

Kind regards,

Paul
