About your question on end-user access only:
Once you ve installed and configured the Exchange Mailbox App and the Outlook Add-in for your users you can pretty much leave everything on the default settings. There are tons of customization options but the defaults work great for normal end-user access.
After setup the end user will see something like this (just after giving ContentStore a bit of time to sync):

Opening an archived message at the top of an archived email the user will see a blue icon or Quick Look option when they click it they ll be redirected to the Web Console (recall server or the VIP if you are using load balancing):
After logging in with their username and password they ll be able to view the entire message and manage their archived items:
Additional notes In Outlook the user can also recall a message by simply double-clicking it. This comes from the ContentStore plugin (enabled by default but you can toggle it). In OWA and on mobile users can still see or recall the message but only through the web server. The double-click recall isn t available here because that feature works only with the Outlook ContentStore plugin.
