Hi,

I have an environment with a CommServe and six Media Agents. Now, we have been asked to add a new environment to our existing CommServe. However, we are unable to establish a direct connection between the two environments. As a solution, we have decided to use two Media Agents from the existing six as proxy gateways.

These two Media Agents have interfaces that reside in the existing environment, and we have connected another interface to the new environment. We have also configured network pairing and added the clients to the hosts file.

The problem arises when we try to add a new client (SLES 11 + Oracle). The process fails with the attached error.

Could anyone help us identify the missing configuration?

Hi @Saadhom

Believe this is a local install on the oracle server.

Could you navigate to /var/log/commvault/Log_Files and review the install.log for more details.

Hello @Saadhom

To add on to what Gowri mentioned, if you are attempting to use existing MA as the proxy for the new MA to communicate with the commserve, you have to make sure all the network communication, ping, nslookup, ports (8400, cvfwd port) all are open vice versa.

Further you can follow this: Configuring the Client for Network Gateway Connections (commvault.com)
