Please would you confirm where this error is seen, what task was being performed, client OS, etc. so we can research some options.
I have searched case history for “Failed to extract the simpana mount path” and found this error has previously been seen for linux client 1-Touch backup where client permissions were preventing successful backup.
Errors seen previously:
Client: linuxclient01 ERROR CODE [6:966]: System state backup failed : [Failed to extract the simpana mount path.]In a previous case, Commvault agent on linux client was installed with a regular user and not as root, so did not have permissions to access OS resources or paths.
Reinstallation as root resolved this issue and 1-Touch backup was successful.
