Hello Team,

We want to configure File system backup using Commvault.

Currently our file data in Dell Powe scale storage and backup is running using of NDMP, we are going to migrate file system data to HPE storage.

We got update from HPE, the NDMP protocol will not support from HPE storage.

Please advise how to configure the file system backup with our ndmp.

Hi @AnandK,

Since HPE storage does not support NDMP protocol, you cannot use NDMP agent-based backups for your file system data on HPE storage. Instead, you should configure File System (FS) agent backups in Commvault for your HPE storage.

https://documentation.commvault.com/11.40/software/ndmp_agent_system_requirements.html

Steps to Configure File System Backup for HPE Storage

1. Install the File System Agent

  • Install the Commvault File System (FS) agent on the client server(s) that have access to the HPE storage (typically via CIFS/NFS mounts).

2. Configure the Subclient

  • Create or modify a subclient under the File System agent for the client.
  • Specify the content (folders/shares on HPE storage) you want to back up.

3. Assign a Storage Policy

  • Assign a storage policy to the subclient to define where the backup data will be stored.

4. Schedule and Run Backups

  • Set up backup schedules as needed.
  • Run manual or scheduled backups to verify configuration.

5. Verify Backup and Restore

  • After the initial backup, perform a test restore to ensure data can be recovered.
