Can you elaborate on your question? Simply, you would need to install the iDataAgent for the type of backup you wish to perform.
The Filesystem Agent (Windows or Linux) would be used to backup the OS and Files. The Virtual Server Agent can perform Application Aware backups for servers hosting databases.
I am not sure what you mean by “Federate management of other required systems”.
